Diabetes symptoms
The main signs and symptoms of diabetes are as follows:
- Frequent urination. Untreated patient with diabetes often have to get up in the night for going to the bathroom.
- Constant thirst and drinking large amounts of water. It can lead to drinking 4-6 liters of water per day, which should be a warning sign.
- Increased appetite. Occurs less often than the first two, but is still a valuable sign.
- Losing weight. Apparently strange, especially considering that is associated with a greater appetite and higher consumption of food. The explanation is the body inability to use the food, with a consequent self-digestion for survival (body eats himself if it cannot use food).
- Other symptoms: fatigue, irritability, blured vision.
These events, especially when present together are very valuable and should always lead to a blood glucose test to check for diabetes presence.
In type 1 diabetes symptoms usually occur 1-3 months before the diagnosis.
In type 2 diabetes symptoms may start 5-10 years before diagnosis, all the while the body being daily milled by diabetes.
