Diabetes symptoms

The main signs and symptoms of diabetes are as follows:

  1. Frequent urination. Untreated patient with diabetes often have to get up in the night for going to the bathroom.
  2. Constant thirst and drinking large amounts of water. It can lead to drinking 4-6 liters of water per day, which should be a warning sign.
  3. Increased appetite. Occurs less often than the first two, but is still a valuable sign.
  4. Losing weight. Apparently strange, especially considering that is associated with a greater appetite and higher consumption of food. The explanation is the body inability to use the food, with a consequent self-digestion for survival (body eats himself if it cannot use food).
  5. Other symptoms: fatigue, irritability, blured vision.

These events, especially when present together are very valuable and should always lead to a blood glucose test to check for diabetes presence.

In type 1 diabetes symptoms usually occur 1-3 months before the diagnosis.

In type 2 diabetes symptoms may start 5-10 years before diagnosis, all the while the body being daily milled by diabetes.
